Dr. Carsten von Blohn
Carsten is the founder and managing director of The Healthonauts.
Trained as a microbiologist, followed by a PhD at the Max Planck Institute, Carsten von Blohn started his career in the pharmaceutical industry and held various positions at GlaxoWellcome, Wyeth and Abbott. He has led cross-functional, national and international teams in a broad range of therapeutic areas with a strong focus on speciality care and orphan disease.
In 2016, he set up BPL Bio Products Laboratory "from scratch" as the German Managing Director and successfully launched a drug for the treatment of ultra-orphan factor X deficiency and continued to support BPL as a consultant for several years after leaving the company.
As an interim manager and consultant, Carsten has supported a number of pharmaceutical companies in various management positions and was involved in an operational, strategic or advisory capacity in the launch of many preparations, e.g. in haemophilia (VIII, IX, X, plasmatic, recombinant and gene therapy), HAE (hereditary angioedema), PH1 (primary hyperoxaluria), AHP (acute hepatic porphyria), APDS (activated PI3K delta syndrome), CV (cystic fibrosis), OI (osteogenesis imperfecta), BBS (Bardet-Biedl syndrome) and LCA (Leber's congenital amaurosis).
Carsten has also worked as a lecturer at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences and the Carl Remigius Medical School (Apll. Univ.).
